Epigenetic research antibody promotion
Gene expression is regulated by epigenetic modifications, which occur either on histones (associated with DNA), on chromatin, or directly on DNA. These modifications include:
- Methylation of DNA (transcriptional silencing)
- Histone methylation
- Histone acetylation
The Agrisera anti-Epigenetic research antibodies include antibodies to the following modifications:
- H3K4me1 and H3K27ac - these modifications mark enhancers, regions of the genome of cell-type specific activation of gene expression
- H3K4me3 - modification found in the promoters and active genes
- H3K9me3 - marks constitutively repressed heterochromatin and works together with DNA methylation
- H3K27me3 - marks regions of the genome, which are transcriptionally inactive
- H3K36me3 - modification linked to transcriptional elongation and therefore associated with gene expression
- 5-mC - addition of a methyl group at the 5 position of cytosines is associated with gene silencing
- 5-hmC - is a DNA modification and results from the enzymatic oxidation of 5-mC by the TET family of cytosine oxygenases. 5-hmC modification at a gene is associated with its expression level
