Using these components, researchers can monitor an animal's body temperature in real time, improving the accuracy of some whole body plethysmography values when body temperature may not be constant. Typical applications include deep hypoxia and some forms of sedation. Respiratory flow derived parameters are collected using a plethysmograph which can be placed on a telemetry receiver. The receiver is used to collect body temperature, heart rate, and/or gross motor activity. The signals are passed to the computer where they are combined for data analysis and reporting in a single software data set. Millar Telemetry Research provides a comprehensive telemetry system for rats and guinea pigs. Signals can be collected continuously or on a schedule.
